Bill Cosby: Hello Jell-O!

After 10 long years of waiting, the Cos is returning home but not in the way many people would hope.

According to The Christian Science Monitor, Cosby will be behind the camera as part of the gelatin brand’s biggest marketing effort of all time!

The Monitor states: “The comedian, whose work with Jell-O dates to 1974, will be an executive producer for the “Hello Jell-O” campaign, which starts with national advertisements on Monday.”

It’s a shame that Cosby won’t be the spokesperson. Who can forget some of his classic spots:

But, wait, that’s not all the news! Again according to The Monitor: “In return, Jell-O will be the presenting sponsor of Cosby’s new weekly Web series called “OBKB.” On the show he interviews children in the style of the classic show “Kids Say the Darndest Things.”

For those that never saw this show, here is a (poor quality, sorry) video of the show:

Although the show only aired for three seasons (from 1998-2000), it was a pop culture phenomenon that is still prevalent today. Shows such as Family Guy, Drawn Together, South Park and The Simpsons have all made references to the show at one point or another.  Family Guy provided a very humorous satire of the show, which is one of my favorite scenes in the show’s history:

However this show is put together, I hope the format is the same as its classic version. In the end, though, I have to say I am extremely excited about The Cos’ return to Jell-O. I just wish he was on the other side of the camera.
