Google: Our Tribute to Pacman

Have you guys seen it! Go to the Google site RIGHT NOW to play Pacman on the Google logo.

According to the Google blog, this is the search site’s ode to the 30th anniversary of Pacman.

Here’s a screen shot of the Google homepage at the moment if, for some reason, you never make it to the site:

Google homepage

Here’s how to play, according to Search Engine Land: “Click on the “insert coin” button that’s below the search box and to the right of the “Google Search” button. That’s another Google first. Normally the right-hand button says “I’m Feeling Lucky” and when pushed, automatically takes you directly to the first site that Google otherwise would have listed as part of your search results. Google’s had its quirky “I’m Feeling Lucky” button since the very beginning. It has never been replaced, until now.”

This is big news for the Google homepage. For one, as just stated, the “I’m Feeling Lucky” button has never been replaced AND the Google logo has only been interactactive one other time in its history as well – on January 4 of this year. That was in honor of Sir Issac Newton’s birthday and showed an apple falling from a tree:

This apple interactive seems cool until you get your turn at the Pacman game. I will caution you, though. If you do score high – take a screen shot. There is no leader board, so save it for your personal collection!

Visit Google, play some Pacman and let me know what you think! Drop me a comment or tweet your thoughts: @rlytle.
