MTV Movie Awards TONIGHT!
If you should all know one thing about me, it is that I am a sucker for awards shows. The Academy Awards, The ESPY Awards, the Golden Globes – they all have their own ways of doing the show and I love them all! I don’t know what it is about them, but I think a lot of it has to do with the glamour of the events. So many great and talented people all in one room to celebrate the best of the best for that year. Some awards shows are very scripted and formal while others go a little out of the ordinary to be different.
MTV is one of the best at doing this and that is why I am so excited for the MTV Movie Awards tonight!
Yahoo! News had a great piece describing how different the MTV Movie Awards are from their competitors: “Katy Perry dripping with green slime. Jack Black, in his underpants, shooting fireworks from his crotch. Sacha Baron Cohen’s alter-ego, Bruno, landing his bare backside on Eminem’s face. These sure aren’t Oscar moments.”
Oh man, I’m sure everyone who reads this article has seen the clip of the Bruno-Eminem clip but it is so great to re-visit:
These are the type of insane things that can happen at the MTV Movie Awards. It’s a day where Hollywood’s best can be a little more laid back. What I really like about this show, as well, is the fact that the fans get to choose the winners of these awards. Some actors may be more deserving but, whatever, they’ve had their time. This is the show where the fans call all the shots (This did backfire at whatever awards show, recently, where Twilight won basically every award).
This is also the show where music, television and movies all mash into one. We’ll see music performances, movie stars joking around with music stars and one crazy antic after another. I’m looking forward to seeing Aziz Ansari host the show. I love his stand-up routines so it should be a great performance tonight.
I’m also looking forward to seeing Sandra Bullock make a public appearance after everything she’s been through. Along with Bullock, Tom Cruise, Adam Sandler and Cameron Diaz are set to join dozens more stars at the awards.
Is anyone out there as excited as I am for the awards show tonight? Let me know what you guys are doing for it tonight! My only hope is that Twilight misses out on every award.
