Perez Hilton: ‘I can’t help it if America has a dirty imagination’
So, basically Perez Hilton is the worst public relations specialist of all time. If I ever need the help of a PR person to rehab my image (don’t worry MTV, that wouldn’t happen!), that dude would be the last person I’d have on speed dial. Earlier this week, Perez posted and removed a racy photo of 17-year-old pop star Miley Cyrus. There has been a large protest coming from all sides and there are speculations that Perez could face jail time for posting the photo of a minor. Well, yesterday, Perez went not on the defensive, but the offensive on “The Joy Behar Show.” If you haven’t seen the clip, check it out:
If you don’t want to watch the entire video, here are some of the interesting quotes from the interview:
“I can’t help it, Joy, if America has a very dirty imagination.”
“I think it’s insulting to children to accuse that of child pornography.”
“If the photo agency that took that photo let me [post it], I would. It’s not showing anything inappropriate.”
“Miley has been around the block.”
When I think about things like this, I often think about how forgiving of a country America is. Tiger Woods, Kobe Bryant, Bill Clinton, Eliot Spitzer have all faced PR nightmares. I would wonder if this situation would have already blown over had he just apologized for his “bad judgment.” Then again, maybe he is loving all this attention. Who knows what goes through the mind of the “Queen of all Media.”
Come on Perez! PR 101!
What do you guys think? Is Perez helping his case whatsoever? Is America overreacting? Drop me a comment or, FOLLOW AND TWEET ME @RLYTLE!
Who really cares about people like Miley Cyrus and Perez Hilton? There’s foreclosures, unemployment, and despair everywhere. I see more and more friends’ families struggle to keep food on the table and America is focusing on some inconsiderate narcissistic pricks in Hollywood?I think you and the rest of the media and blogging world should stop acknowledging these pricks. I guarantee you they’re not facing the choice of whether to eat dinner tonight or pay the electric bill. Just my two cents.
