‘The Office’ About to be Scott-Free

It looks like there’s going to be a lot less “that’s what she said” going on around the office after this seventh season is completed. Steve Carell is very close to punching his time card for the last time on NBC’s “The Office.”

He confirmed with EW.com that this story is true: “I think [season] 7 will be my last year. I want to fulfill my contract. I think it’s a good time to move on.”

I was never much of an “Office” fan but I know how important Michael Scott was to the entire balance of the show. I do not think, however, that his departure means the end to NBC’s hit show.

BuzzSugar.com gave five great reasons why “The Office” may now be better off without its star boss, including the fact that his storyline has worn thin, it will allow for other characters to have more airtime and Michael Scott will finally get the chance to leave on top (maybe).

Regardless of what I think, or what anyone thinks, about this show it is hard to deny that it has been a national phenomenon.  The awkward humor of this show has spawned so many pop culture references that are prevalent today (and mostly make me cringe).  When Michael Scott walks out of those Dunder Mifflin doors for the last time, it will mark the end to an era.
